Illustrative Swatch The Club Event

17 to 18-OCT-2008, Zürich, Switzerland

After a short night, we met again in the morning at the entrance of Halle 9.  This time, it was "time for activity" of the club members.

Before the doors opened, we received a special T-shirt, fresh and directly out of the Swatch van:

Canadian artist Gary Taxali was our "art director" for the morning and he explained his idea for our art session to us.  Every club member received a photo of a young Canadian, taken from a high school year book from the 70s.  Lots of interesting hair styles and glasses... :-)  The idea was to draw or paint "the secret" of the person on the picture.

no, Skander did not paint on the wall :-)

And these were some of the final results:

All the paintings and pictures were affixed on a wall at the end of the room and Gary explained to us what he could see on the pictures.  Sometimes, it was really funny :-)

lots of "murder" and "victim" pictures!

Afterwards, time for a second visit of the exhibition:

And Gary explained his artworks to us:

Time for some photo sessions for the Swatch artists:

After lunch, the event was already over too soon but some of us could spend a nice afternoon in Zurich.  It was really interesting to meet and talk to the artists.  In my opinion, the three watches are nice and have a unique, refreshing spirit.  So, I hope that a similar project will be done again in the future.

In the evening of 18-OCT, the winners of the Young Illustrators Award were announced:

Jenni Rope (animation), Miriam Frei (book art), Rebecca Manley (illustration) – winners of the 2008 "Young Illustrators Award",
Illustrative-founder Pascal Johanssen (right) and Christian Montenegro (left), who will design a "Graphics Collection" watch for Swatch.

Here is an overview of the stuff that the club members received.
